Genso coffee is an independent coffee company from fukuoka, Japan. With their tradional japanese roasting methods, they create a unique contrast in the fast pace coffee community around them. They want to inspire folks around them to slow down, take it easy and return to your roots.
With Genso translating to elements in Japanese, the idea was to take this word and interpret it into something interesting and compelling, without being too obvious. While researching, a story was found of Mizuchi. Inspired by the water dragon as it pertained to the water element, it was decided to create their own water dragon as the main logo. The typography was intersting to find something strong to fit the dragon narrative, but still organic to compliment the illustration. MJletter was found and it fit the bill perfectly. Together all these bits and pieces work well with one another to make the perfect Genso mark.
